Burma Cycling Holiday / Myanmar Bike Tour

Cycling Tour Mandalay to Bagan 5 Days / 4 Nights

Trip Profile:

This cycling holiday start from Mandalay, the former Royal Capital of Burma. Then we cycle to Bagan to visit the ancients capital. There is also a chance for the Baloon ride to see the temples from the sky view. To extend the cycling tour to cycle to Inle Lake, please join our trip Bangan to Inle Lake, the most beautiful lake in Myanmar surrounded by the stuning view of the hills.

We aim to take tourists to see REAL lives in Myanmar by taking the less travel routes by bike and the most highlight of this trip are Bagan, Mandalay.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: MANDALAY
On arrival we transfer 48km to our hotel in the heart of downtown Mandalay where we meet the team that will be with us throughout the challenge. We have a lunch of local delights followed by a briefing on the challenge ahead and a bike fitting. This afternoon we visit the Maharmuni and Kuthodaw Pagodas as well as the Atumashi Monestery and end our sightseeing on Mandalay Hill to witness an incredible sunset. Tonight we have a welcome meal at a famous local restaurant and return to our hotel for a well deserved rest.

Day 2: THE IRRAWADDY RIVER (80 KMS)
After a good breakfast we get on our bicycles to start this incredible Myanmar Cycle Challenge. The route follows the flow of the Ayeyarwady (formally known as the Irrawaddy) River as it leaves Mandalay heading west then south, as we make our way through the towns and villages of central Myanmar. Throughout our challenge we will make regular stops to visit temples, pagodas and important historical sites. This afternoon we find ourselves rolling into Monywa for the end of our first challenge day. For those that wish there will be a visit to the Powintaung Caves, a 14th century complex of 947 richly decorated caves that have been carved into the sandstone. We end the day relaxing on the banks of the Chindwin River and soaking in some of the local atmosphere.

Day 3: BAGAN (90 KMS)
This morning we rise early for a very special treat as leave the hotel and cycle to our boat launch that will take us on a breakfast river cruise down the Chindwin River. After 45km we rejoin our bicycles at Yesagyo and we start riding south on the virtually flat roads with little shade so the heat and humidity can really be felt. We stop for lunch at a local restaurant in the town of Pakkoku and this afternoon our ride is predominantly along the banks of the Ayeyarwady River all the way to Bagan. This was the capital of the first Myanmar empire, whose importance is compared to that of Rome and Jerusalem, and in an area of 42sqkm there were believed to have been 13,000 temples. Tonight we eat at a local restaurant and sleep in our comfortable Bagan Hotel.

Day 4: BAGAN TEMPLE TOUR
With over forty square kilometers and thousands of pagodas, Bagan is nothing short of breath taking. We’ll cycle the ancient plain, pausing to explore primary and secondary temples. The tour include the visit to Shawesandaw Pagoda. The pagoda contains a series of five terraces, topped with a cylindrical stupa, which has a bejewelled umbrella. The pagoda was built by King Anawrahta in 1057. Then we visit Htilominlo Pahto, Gubyaukgyi temple and Winido temple. Dinner and overnight in Bagan.

Day 5: BAGAN DEPART
Breakfast at the hotel. Free until your departure.
